In a world where images, sound, and motion are omnipresent, art making provides me with a place to be thoughtful, quiet, and still. Simple acts, like tossing pebbles or repetitive mark-making, help cultivate a practice of quiet observation.
Tangible elements, such as pattern and texture, are drawn from landscape and combined with less tangible elements like rhythm, dissonance, and silence. The resulting work invites viewers into a visual space that allows for contemplation, meditation, or quietness without demanding them.
Making art is an activity that is simultaneously energising and stabilising for me. Extending this sense of equilibrium to the viewer is one of my primary interests.
